Saturday started out slow. Everyone slept in a little from being out Friday night and the kids staying up later than normal with the babysitter. Managed to make eggs and bacon before everyone started off for the day.
The wife ran to target in the morning to get gifts for our youngest’s back to back birthday parties he was invited to in the afternoon. I gave Sam a bath to get him clean before he heads out with mom later. Afterwards the kids and I head outside, it was a beautiful sunny and 80 degree day. Garage is a mess and I start rounding up Sumer items that we might not use again and start taking them into the garage attic. While I am up there I come across our jogging stroller, umbrella stroller, child bike trailer, and a tricycle. I take all of this down and get it ready for the wife to sell on the local facebook site. I throw in our tag-a-log bike also as our kids both can ride without training in wheels. I keep plugging away at the garage and it is looking quite immaculate I’d have to say. The kids have lunch as I am finishing up.
Just after lunch Susan and Sam head for the parties, James and I get in the truck and head for the boat club to check the water levels. We have not been able to boat on the local lakes for over a month because of the high water from record rainfall in the area. We stop at the Italian deli to get my favorite sub but they are sold out. I settle for the next best one, an Otto, which will be ok too. James gets a cookie at the register and is content. The club is back open. It was previously sandbagged all around and the doors taped incase water levels got to high. I turn on the Badger game in the big room and eat my sub. While we are not there for 10 minutes and here comes my father in law. We chat for the first quarter of the game and then time to head out. The grocery store was on our list of things to do today. We head to the hipster store and grab the necessities and I let James pick out dinner. He choose the salmon at the meat counter. I get 1.5 lbs from the fish monger and we check out.
Back at home I get groceries put away. Susan is just getting back from the parties and is up to whatever. The boys have settled a little and are watching wild Kratts. I turn on the rest of the badger game in the garage and Stuart watching from the workbench. It’s not long and I decide that the game will be much more enjoyable with a beer. Voila, one miraculously appears from the mini fridge underneath. The Badgers are sucking and Susan comes out followed by the kids shortly afterwards. Susan grabs a white clam, oh I mean claw and sits on the other stool. The children grab camp chairs and we are all watching the Badger game in the garage. I turn on a box fan to add some breeze. Air conditions is on in the house and we have a bigger TV inside, but everyone seems to be enjoying the game here. Badgers kicker attempts to tie the game with less 1 minute to go in the fourth and misses. Badgers lose, they played like crap and the better team won.
Tonight the line up for dinner is the salmon which I will be grilling. I am also attempting to grill eggplant slices too. We warm up some fresh bread in the oven. Salmon was delicious, the eggplant was so so. It looked great with the grill marks and all but the moisture content was just to high and it got soggy. Everyone tried it and we moved on. Wife had a glass of white wine as we cooked and talked. I stuck with the bud lights.
After dinner was cleaned up everyone got into their comfy clothes and we streamed “Solo”. The kids had some popcorn and played with Star-wars figures a little as the movie played.

Sunday morning I had a tee time for 7:20. This is the first time I golfed 18 straight holes. My golfing partner decided to tear it up on Saturday and was in no condition to play a round. So it was myself and two older gents in their late 50’s-early 60’s. We had some good conversation and had some industry in common. Overall I did not golf the best I could have. I think i should have had more than 1 bud light to loosen me up a little. Ended up with a couple of good drives, less than great approach shots and putting was ok. I parred 2, had bogeys on another 2 and the rest well…
I stopped by my missing partners house to see if he was up yet just before 12:00. Shared 3 beers with him and watched the 1st quarter of the Packer / Viking game. Came home made a tuna sandwich and rested on the couch. Dozed off for about 20 minutes before halftime. Golfing the 18 in 85 degree heat wore me out. James had a friend over in the afternoon and I retired upstairs to finish watching the game while the kiddos played. After the game I was back outside picking up dog shit and toys in order to mow. I trimmed the edges and mowed the lawn.
For dinner we made grilled cheeseburgers and hotdogs on the grill. Finishing the evening out with Sunday night football and baths for the kids. All 4 of us were tired and no one complained about calling it quits early. It was quite a busy weekend. Besides the McDonald’s I feel like I was conscientious of what was getting eaten and stayed active. Hope the scale proves me right tomorrow.
